The Eagles of Sequoyah Claremore are known for their toughness and willingness to compete. One student-athlete who loves to compete is Sonny Proctor.

Proctor is a track athlete in the spring and a football player in the fall. This track season you can catch Proctor competing in the hurdle events.

“I have run track since I was in the seventh grade and this season, I am doing the 110 and 300 hurdles,” said Proctor.

The senior said he loves being part of the Sequoyah family and loves representing his school with his teammates.

“I enjoy the relationships that I have built between friends and teachers at Sequoyah,” said Proctor.

Proctor said the track team has all type of personalities making this group a fun team be around.

“A few teammates to watch are Acee Proctor, Jake Shugart, and Jake Gilbreath. They are all underclassmen who have drive. The toughest guy is Lakota Campos because he hits hard on the football field and made big plays. Funniest isCaden Reavis because of his quick-wit and sense of humor. Most serious is Mason Jones because he pays attention during drills and understood practice was preparation to make us better,” said Proctor.

Once Proctor is done with high school, he will take his talents to William Jewell College to play football and major in engineering. Proctor said his parents are a big reason for his success on and off the field.

“My parents, Billy and Quinn Proctor are big influences in my life, because they have taught me that you must be willing to work hard to achieve your goals,” said Proctor.
