Getting to Know Claremore’s Kalyn Ladd – Presented by RibCrib

VYPE: When and how did you first get into cheer?

Kalyn: I started cheer when I was six years old and have continued every year since!

VYPE: How did your season turn out and what were your goals?

Kalyn: This season was most definitely a rebuilding year for Claremore Zebra Cheer! The program has so much potential within these next years, especially with our new amazing coaches Sara Eagleton and Casey Shere! Although we did not place how we wanted, Claremore cheer went to state for the first time since 2019 which was a huge deal for us. The past 2 years we have not been able to attend due to covid so that was a major step for CZC.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

Kalyn: The most fun I have had this year so far would have to be Homecoming! Nobody does homecoming like Claremore and I will miss it so much after I graduate!

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Kalyn: Every teacher I have ever had has impacted my life tremendously! I could not be more grateful for my teachers from Justus Tiawah, Will Rogers Junior High, and Claremore Highschool. Especially within the past couple years, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Lahr, Ms. Bongard, have played such a major role in shaping me into the young woman I am and have never stopped supporting me within everything I do!

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Kalyn: Some of my favorite memories would have to be bus rides home from away football games, and watching Coach J fall into the pool right before we left for regionals in 2019!

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Kalyn: The seniors from my freshman year have truly left the biggest impression on me and shaped me into the cheerleader I am today. Jayla Hurt, Lakyn Hawkins, Karley Nees, Sydney Callender, Audrey Braucher, and Emily Bridges. These six girls were the absolute best leaders and role models I could have ever asked for and I would not be the leader I am today without them.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a cheer team?

Kalyn: My favorite part about being on a team is the second family I have gained within every team I have been a part of. Although practices can get rough, at the end of the day we are a family and are there for each other no matter what.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Kalyn: I would go to the Maldives with my family!

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

Kalyn: Thank you to my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and teachers for supporting me within everything I do, especially my amazing parents Jeremy and Tiffany Ladd. Thank you Sara Eagleton, Casey Shere, Bj Nelson, Brad Turner, and CZC for giving me my second family and shaping me into the leader I am today! Go Zebras and ATTAFF!!!
