CLAREMORE ZEBARS

Coach: JARRETT HURT

9-3

OFFENSE

With a few positions up for grabs this spring and summer, head coach Jarrett Hurt is looking forward to seeing his guys compete for the starting jobs that are open. “We look to add to our 20 wins over the past two seasons. We will have a lot of competition for several open positions. This competition will make our team better. Our district will be very tough once again,” said coach Hurt. With six returning starters on offense, the Zebras are poised for another big year in their multiple-I offense. They will take advantage of what the defense gives them and force teams to constantly adjust. Running back Cecil Garrett IV (5-9, 185, Sr.) rushed for 655 yards on 136 carries with seven touchdowns. Garrett will play a big role in moving the chains offensively, as will the offensive line that features Luke Roberts (6-2, 250, Sr.) at guard and Lex Clark (5-11, 240, Sr.) at tackle. Not only will this line help the run game, but they will play big in the passing game as well. Wide receivers Hayden Lee (5-9, 165, Sr.), Hudson Lee (6-0, 165, Sr.), and Bryson Hall (6-1, 165, Sr.) are all poised for solid seasons. Both Lee boys had productive seasons as juniors going to 394 yards and 314 yards respectively, combining for five TDs. Keep an eye on Tennessee Suiter, one of the QBs looking for playing time this season.

DEFENSE

The defense will be the strength of the team in early games. Led by VYPE Top 100 selectee Landon King (6-3, 240, Sr.), the Zebras will run a 4-4 to stop opponents run game and prevent the big play downfield. King notched 50 tackles and three sacks last season. He plays with a high-motor and set a new school record in the discus during track season. King’s name is being tossed around as a guy who can certainly play at the next level. While King occupies a spot at defensive end, Hayden Lee and Hudson Lee will bookend the outside linebacker spots. Kaden Conley (6-2, 260, Jr.) is a solid defensive tackle who recorded 19 tackles, three sacks, and one fumble recovery. Also look for linebacker Ryker Drake (6-0, 200, Jr.) who enjoyed an impressive sophomore campaign with 30 tackles, one sack and one interception to his credit. Another player to watch is Kaide Williams who transferred from Broken Arrow. Williams is a speedy track athlete and will give the Zebras some explosiveness on both sides of the ball. The coaching staff includes Brian Key-AHC/OL, Noah Grimett-OC/QB, John Dexter-Special/T/TE, Matt Wallen-Passing/WR, Billy Willard-DC/DB, Josh Cunningham-Run/DL, Jake Swicegood-LB, and Brent Dickey-OLB.
