Kicking it Around with Verdigris’ Kylee Dee – Presented by Red Crown Credit Union

Teammates are a big part of any athlete’s success. They work alongside each other and help keep each other focused. Verdigris’ Kylee Dee says that there are two members of her soccer team that go out of their way to help others.

“One teammate that pushes me is senior Abby Bell,” Dee said. “She encourages me when I make a mistake and lets me know when I do something right. The least appreciated player on the team is probably our goalie, Lillian Adams. In some games, she does not get to touch the ball very often, but she still shows interest and does not quit. She encourages the team and helps us fix our mistakes during the game.”

Kylee is a sophomore and plays soccer and runs track for the Lady Cardinals. Away from sports, she is also a member of the student council, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Speech and Debate, and she also serves as a class officer.

Hard work is something that Dee is not afraid of because she knows that is what has helped her become the athlete she is.

“For me to be successful in my sports,” she said, “I have had to push through being sore and continue to work hard. I feel like I am motivated by getting better and being the best person that I can be on and off of the field.”

Having an outstanding support system is hugely important and helpful for Kylee and it is what has made her who she is.

“Some of my biggest influences are my friends and family,” she stated. “They have helped shape me into the person I am. I have a big family and growing up I spent a lot of time with them.”

Throughout her career, Dee has enjoyed some memorable moments but there has not been one bigger than winning a championship.

“The highlight moment of my high school career would have to be winning the Class 3A state soccer championship in 2021. It was a great feeling to see all of our hard work and sacrifices pay off.”
