A Bright Future Ahead for Verdigris’ Tripp Fuller – Presented by Keith Wagoner Shelter

Work is a requirement if someone wants to be the best at what they do. Whether it is in the business world, the athletic arena, or just in life, some effort has to be given in order to be able to reach the top. Tripp Fuller says that as an athlete, he has had to put in a lot of time and work to get where he is today but adds that he is not at the top yet.

“I have put in hours upon hours of practice,” he said. “My motivation comes from me wanting to be the best at whatever I do. Also, my dad is constantly motivating me as well to work and keep getting stronger and better.”

Tripp is a junior at Verdigris High School where he is a dual-sport athlete. He plays middle linebacker for the Cardinal’s football team, and he throws the discus as a member of the track team. When he is not competing, you can find him in the VHS student section cheering on his classmates.

Ron Fuller, the track coach at Verdigris High School and Tripp’s dad, says that his son has done a great job and continues working to be his best.
“We don’t really have a dedicated throwing coach here at Verdigris,” Ron said. “So he has had three or four coaching influences and taken pieces from them all and made his own way.  He has really dedicated himself to routine practice which includes weekends and even after meets when he throws poorly.   When he is not in the ring practicing, he is in the weight room or doing yoga nearly every day if not twice a day.  As a dad, sometimes I think he is overtraining. Then I usually remind myself there are worse things a teenage boy could be doing.”

Tripp has had some outstanding moments throughout his athletic career, but he says that there is one accomplishment that stands out as his favorite.

“Throwing the discus 25 feet at the Bristow track meet would have to be my favorite moment,” he said. “That was a new personal record for me, and it felt great to reach that.”
