Claremore Cheer Team – Presented by Red Crown Credit Union

When Sara Eagleton took over the Claremore cheer program, she knew the challenge of taking on new team members every year and keeping everyone focused before the start of the school year while preparing for a state competition that looms ever so close. Now that the school year is well underway, coach Eagleton said she is proud of where they have come since tryouts last spring.

“This team has drastically improved since tryouts last March. We are still a relatively young team, but with more exposure and experience, they will soon be extremely competitive and successful. Not only have they improved their skills, but they have also worked at becoming a stronger team with positive attitudes and coming together as a family,” said Eagleton.

This season the team leaders are the seniors.

“At Claremore, our seniors are our team leaders. Their leadership helps set the tone and direction of the program. We love our seniors Morgan Burgess, Lindsey Holmes, and Kloie Schellhorn,” said Eagleton.

Those seniors are helping to prepare the team for state. Coach Eagleton plans on taking the team to the state cheer competition and the GameDay competition.

“We are competing in both. Last year was our first year in a very long time to also participate in stunt,” said Eagleton. “Both Casey Shere and I are very proud of our athletes this season for a number of reasons- at camp they were awarded camp favorite; at challenging practices, they came together as a team and supported each other; at games, they are attentive and adapt to quick changes; but one thing that has really stood out this year is that they have been coachable. We can provide feedback and we see them listening and making the changes needed.”

The state cheer competition is set for September 23rd and GameDay competition is set for November 10-11th

Good luck the Claremore and the members of the 2023-24 varsity cheer squad.
