CLAREMORE ZEBRAS

Coach: JARRETT HURT

5-6

OFFENSE

After a first-round playoff loss last season, the Zebras are looking to make some noise and a deeper playoff run this year. Jarrett Hurt is in his 15th year with the team and his seventh as the head coach and he says that returning experience will be key for his squad. “We have a veteran squad returning this season,” he said. “We have eight starters coming back on offense and eight starters back on defense.” Quarterback Braxton Etheridge (6-1, 185, Sr.) is back for his final season. Last season, he threw for 2,043 yards and seventeen touchdowns. Joining Etheridge in the backfield will be running back Micah Teel, who ended last year with 953 rushing yards and fourteen touchdowns. The duo of Gage Deckard (6-1, 175, Sr.) and Eli Rodgers (5-9, 155, Sr.) are back as targets for their quarterback. Last season, they combined for 91 receptions for 1,284 yards and ten touchdowns. At tight end, Josh Bump (6-2, 220, Sr.) had 15 catches for 220 yards and a touchdown last season. After a lot of hard work this offseason, he will look to have bigger numbers and also be a solid playmaker. Anchoring the front line will be offensive lineman Ben Jordan (6-4, 300, Sr.), who is an outstanding blocker.

DEFENSE

Leading the defense from the linebacker position this season will be Jesse Cagle (5-9, 200, Sr.). He had an impressive season a year ago, totaling 123 tackles and he is ready to continue his dominance this season. Also playing linebacker this season are Tyson Grimmett (5-9, 210, Jr.) and Rex Clark (6-1, 175, Sr.). They totaled 78 tackles last year. Maintaining things in the trenches again this season will be Josh Feliciano (6-0, 250, Jr.) and Cameron Braswell (6-0, 200, Sr.). Last season, Feliciano registered 49 tackles, while Braswell had 34 tackles. Patrolling the secondary and keeping the opponent’s receivers at bay is Michael Robertson (5-9, 160, Jr.), who had 20 tackles and an interception last year. Assistant coaches for the Zebras this year are Brian Key, Noah Grimett, John Dexter, Matt Wallen, Billy Willard, Josh Cunningham, Jake Swicegood, Chad Willard, Zac Weber, and Max Knoke.
