Claremore’s Hadley Abraham Athlete Spotlight Presented by Advanced Orthopedics of Oklahoma

Athletes dedicate a lot of time and energy in order to be the best that they can at their chosen sport. In most cases, there is also a person or group of people that make an impact on them and help them become the athlete they are. Hadley Abraham is a golfer for Claremore High School and she says that a member of her family has had a big impact on her golf game.

“My biggest role model would have to be my brother, Hayden,” she said. “If it weren’t for his persistence in trying out for the high school golf team, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I was always the type to take the path of least resistance and stay in my comfort zone. My brother forced me to sign up for the golf team when I wasn’t playing volleyball. I alwaysblew off his advice. I was playing nine holes for practice one day and I was having a serious issue with my driver. I usually would put up with it and not worry about it. For some reason, I called my brother and asked him what I was doing wrong. Over the phone, he could tell me what I was doing wrong with my swing and how to fix it. Then I hit a picturesque drive and left myself an easy chip and putt for birdie. Then I realized my brother may know what he’s talking about and I should listen to him better.”

Hadley is a senior at Claremore and along with golf, she is also a member of the volleyball team. Outside of sports, she is also a member of the National Honor Society, the BioMed Club, and the Christian Club.

Along with the influence of her brother, Abraham has worked hard and spent a lot of time on the course improving her game.

“For me, it has taken countless hours of playing numerous rounds of golf with my brother and grandfather to be where I am today. I had learned to be keen to listen to my brother’s and grandfather’s advice on how to swing a golf club and how to maneuver around a golf course in the most efficient way. It takes a lot of effort to be an effective golfer and I know I’m capable of doing well on my own but I am aware how important a support system is with being the best I can be. I’m successful in golf because I am surrounded by people who care about my success as much as I do.”

Claremore girls golf coach, Scott Greenland, says that Abraham is an outstanding athlete that is always working.

“Hadley is an experienced senior who has qualified for the state tournament the past two  years,” he said. “She works hard and continues to improve.”
