Claremore’s Madison Douglas Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Keith Wagoner, Shelter Insurance

Throughout an athlete’s career there are many different lessons that are learned from the game that they play. But for Maddie Douglas it has been what she has learned through her career which has helped her get to where she is today.

Maddie Douglas is a Serior on the Pryor Girls Tennis team and When it comes to the game she keeps it all pretty simple and not too complex. She does her best in her matches when she keeps it simple.

“Staying focused on the details of the game. Know everything is an opportunity to learn and get better as a player.” The other large life lesson that she has learned over her career is “Knowing the harder I work the bigger the reward.”

Douglas has gained a lot of valuable experience through her career due in part to the amazing support system and it starts with her parents. Tennis is a family affair for Douglas and her family.

“My family is key in my life. They love me, encourage me, and hold me accountable to the core values we believe in. My mom is always there to push me further than I think I can go.” “As the only daughter my dad has always kept me very close.

He loves and protects me, I know he will always be there for me even when I’m not my best.” The support from her family and friends allows her to not get too excited or too down if she has a rough day. If it was not for her cousin she may not even be playing tennis. “My cousin Blake made me want to play tennis because he introduced me to the sport.”

Douglas has definitely had some exciting moments in her career so far and she is looking to cap it off with some big moments to finish her high school career and make the city of Pryor proud in the process. “The highlight of my career so far was winning the match to clinch a spot in the state tournament my sophomore year.”

But being successful on the court is not the only thing Douglas wants to accomplish.

“It’s important to me to represent Pryor by showing respect towards my opponents and always giving my best. There still is one goal that she has in mind though. ” I want to make it to state this year.” Only time will tell if Douglas can represent Pryor in the state tournament.
