Michael Robertson

Claremore High School

By Trina Walker

Michael Robertson is an athlete who does not rest. When football season ends, this senior at Claremore High School, goes straight into wrestling. He looks forward to both sports but there is something special about football. “It’s fun! I just love being under the lights with my team on Friday nights,” he says.

The best advice given to him is to dream big. “A quote I often look back to is ‘if your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’tbig enough,’” he said.

Michael is a receiver and recently started playing as an outside linebacker. “Football has taught me how to work hard and stay disciplined in all aspects of my life. My favorite part about being on a team is the brotherhood that comes with it. Just knowing I can rely on any one of them for anything,” says Michael.

Michael is inspired by his coaches and teammates. “Coach Hurt inspires me a ton. He always has a positive mindset and can bring ‘the energy’ to any situation.

“Gage Deckard who graduated last year left a big impression on me. He was an outstanding athlete on his own, but he also always pushed me to be my best. I remember at morning lifts the day after I had had a rough game and was reallydown on myself. He came over and lifted me up bringing out the positives of the game and how it should just push me to work harder,” he recalled.

Several teachers have influenced Michael. “Mr. Riggs is an outstanding teacher and leader of the biomed program at the high school. You can just tell that he loves his job and is very passionate about teaching high school kids about the medical field,” said Michael.

Other teachers he wants to mention are Ms. Larh and Ms. Golbek, who he says are both pretty amazing. He also wants to thank his parents for being his support.

Michael is also in FCS, FUZE, wrestling, and is the president of the Biomed Club.
