SEQUOYAH CLAREMORE EAGLES
Coach: ROB GILBREATH
3-7
Sequoyah Claremore heads into 2026 with optimism after a 3-7 season and a roster that blends senior leadership with emerging young talent. Head coach Rob Gilbreath, now in his eighth year with the program, believes this group “has a chance to be very special” as it grows together over the course of the season. With experience returning on both sides of the ball and a fast-paced offensive identity, the Eagles expect to be more consistent and competitive in district play.
Offensively, Sequoyah returns six starters and builds around senior playmaker Mason Weeks (5-10, 150), who caught 32 passes for 661 yards and six touchdowns in 2025. The Eagles base out of 20 and 11 personnel sets and want to play fast, spreading the field and using an RPO system to put defenses in conflict. Their scheme features motions and shifts designed to tilt the numbers in their favor, while giving the quarterback freedom to make pre- and post-snap decisions that get the ball to their best athletes in space. Weeks is a VYPE Top 100 nominee and a dynamic weapon in that structure, with the staff excited about his ability to turn short catches into explosive plays.
Defensively, Sequoyah also returns six starters and bases out of a 4-2-5 alignment built on stopping the run first, playing fast and physical, and forcing mistakes through pressure and disguise. Inside linebacker and fullback Wyatt Mullins (6-0, 200) is highlighted as a defensive leader, praised for his work ethic, intensity and ability to help set up the defense. The staff expects him to anchor the middle and be a two-way tone-setter as a senior. With Mullins’ leadership, Weeks’ two-way impact and underclassmen like corner/slot John Hull stepping into larger roles, Gilbreath believes this team’s improved depth and maturity can keep the Eagles in the playoff hunt.
