A proud junior at Sequoyah High School, Hailey has been making waves with her dedication, team spirit, and love for the game. She’s been playing for five years now, and her passion for volleyball shows in every serve, spike, and dig. Though she’s been around sports for much of her life, her journey truly began with inspiration from her older sister. “Some of my best memories are watching her play here,” Hailey shares. “Now that I get to create my own moments and even be a role model to others, it’s something really special.”
When asked about her favorite place to compete, she keeps it simple: “I don’t have a particular place. I have fun no matter where I play.” That positive attitude is one reason she’s become a vital part of her team. She currently plays outside hitter (OH), but lately has been excelling in the back row — and would love to play the libero position.
Being a student-athlete at Sequoyah is about more than sports. “The friends I’ve made and the impact I can have on others make it so meaningful,” she explains. In the classroom, science is her favorite subject especially space and chemistry — and Mrs. Kehler stands out as her most supportive teacher.
Hailey is also involved in STEM, describing it as “super fun,” and always brings energy to her team. “What I love most about my teammates is how loud and full of energy they are, especially when the court needs it.” Greidys, she says, always keeps the team laughing, while Emmyn tends to be the most serious. As for impressions of coach? “No one really gets her personality right — she’s just too unique!”
Pre-game, she keeps it light with concession snacks. After games, it’s all about Lunchables and Powerade. This season, Hailey is eager to face off against Wesleyan Christian again to see how far the team has come.
Looking ahead, her dreams include continuing to play either in college or a women’s league, but she’s also open to pursuing a degree for a stable future.
