OUTLOOK
Several players are making their way back to the court for head coach Mike Buntin and that has the Cardinal faithful excited to see what this group can accomplish this season.
“Top six players return from a group that improved significantly as the season progressed last year. Also have a solid freshman group that will provide more shooting and depth,” coach Buntin said.
Jackie Beauchamp (5-10, Jr.) is back at guard after averaging 11.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and shooting 33% from three-point range. Beauchamp was named to the VYPE Top 100 after a great sophomore season, putting her in the running for the Shelter Insurance Miss Basketball Oklahoma award. Another guard to watch is Addie Russell (5-8, Jr.) who averaged 4.7 points and 4.1 assists per game.
Rilyn Stringfellow (5-10, Jr.) is a forward who made a big splash as a sophomore. Stringfellow averaged 10.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game last year and is expected to have similar or better numbers as a junior. Averie Deegan (5-10, Jr.) is another forward who can get to the rim. Deegan averaged 4.1 points and 4.5 rebounds a game last season. Her output will help this team in a big way.
Other players to watch include Callie James (5-4, Jr.) at guard who averaged 4.0 points per contest last year and Abbi Rairdon (5-8, So.) who will likely play forward.
Coach Buntin is in his 14th season with the Lady Cardinals.
