Q&A with Claremore’s Morgan Burgess – Presented by RibCrib

VYPE: What are your goals this season in cheer, both personally and as a team?
Morgan: My personal goal this year is to cherish every moment I have with this cheer team and to have fun. Our team goal is to have a better stunt season this year. We started competing in stunt last year, so we hope that we can do better this year!

VYPE: Where do you feel like you’ve improved the most going into this year?
Morgan: This year as a team I feel like we have improved trust and understanding for one another. This has developed into close relationships and love for each other.

VYPE: What are your strengths and what have you improved on the most over the course of your high school career?
Morgan: My strength is tumbling. I started tumbling at age 10. As each year goes on I have gained a new skill.

VYPE: What’s your most memorable cheer moment during your high school career?
Morgan: My most memorable moment in cheer would be when I made the varsity cheer team as a freshman. This was a personal goal for me. It was very nerve-racking but I was so excited to be a part of the team.

VYPE: Who has been your biggest influence and why when it comes to cheer?
Morgan: My biggest cheer influence is my older sister Paige, who also cheered at Claremore. She has always pushed me and encouraged me. If it wasn’t for her, I would not be a cheerleader today.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school (college, work, etc)?
Morgan: My plan is to attend Oklahoma State University after high school. I will be majoring in business and would like to obtain a license in cosmetology.

VYPE: What are some of your achievements over your high school career?
Morgan: My entire high school career, we have qualified and competed state each year. We have always put the extra work in to reach that goal every year.
