Claremore High School basketball player Will Jones is a senior this season and is looking forward to competing in his final year of prep basketball.
“The season has been going pretty good so far. We were able to win our Christmas tournament in Gravette, Arkansas, and are now moving farther into conference play,” said Jones.
Jones and his teammates are setting big goals for the team this season.
“My goal for this season is to go far in playoffs and make the state tournament,” said Jones. “I love the chemistry that me and my teammates have. We’re always joking around with each other, and we’ve really created a bond with one another.”
Always willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win; Jones will see time at both shooting guard and small forward. He continues to improve his game with hopes of playing at the next level.
“A huge part of my game that has improved is my ability to get to the rim and attack the paint. Right now, I am working on my shooting and getting off shots in games,” said Jones. “My goal after I graduate is to play basketball at the college level. I want to major in biology in college and eventually go into a career in the medical field.”
Being a student-athlete at Claremore High School is more than just playing hoops. Jones is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Christian Club, National Honor Society, and the Biomedical Club.
“I love being a student-athlete at Claremore High School because of the relationships with people that I get to have that wouldn’t be possible without sports,” said Jones. “My favorite subject is science, specifically anatomy, and my favorite teacher is Mr. Riggs.”
When he’s not on the court you can usually find Jones with friends and family. “In my free time I like to watch basketball and football, play video games with my friends, and also go hang out with my friends outside of school and practice,” said Jones.
