Sequoyah Claremore’s Bryson Nichols

Bryson Nichols learned respect, discipline, commitment and teamwork playing football. He is a young player who already puts these skills to use on the field. Bryson is a sophomore at Sequoyah High School in Claremore.

Head football coach Rob Gilbreath looks forward to the potential of his up-and-coming players. He says Bryson is still young but with hard work, guidance and more experience, he expects him to make an impact on the season.

Bryson is a hard worker whose dedication continued into the off-season. “Bryson had a great JV season last year and had some good varsity time as a freshman. He has good vision and loves the game,” Gilbreath said.

Scoring a touchdown as a freshman in a high school game is what Bryson lists as his best memory so far in his football career. He plays running back and corner. “My favorite part is getting to carry ‘the rock’ to, and getting to the end zone,” says Bryson.

Bryson loves football and sharing his experiences with his team, “because it’s fun,” he says. His love of the game started when he first played it himself in the fourth grade. The support of his parents and coaches has helped push him to the next level. Bryson is thankful for their support. The respect and inspiration he has for his coaches make him work even harder on the field.

Another special person he looks up to is closer to home. That is his brother. “He pushes me to be better,” says Bryson.

Growing up in a small community, everyone knows who you are. This is something he is always aware of and keeps in mind as people look to him as a student-athlete. It is also what he likes most about representing his school and the community.

Bryson is an active outdoorsman who loves adventure of all kinds. “I like to go fishing and ride dirt bikes.”
