OUTLOOK
This promises to be an interesting season for the Cardinals and coach Chris Houk. Despite not returning anyone from last years team, coach Houk is optimistic this will be a different sort of season for the Cardinals.
“Despite having no returning starters and limited varsity experience, this season is full of opportunity. With every role wide open, new leaders have the chance to emerge, and younger players can grow quickly through competition. What we may lack in experience, we’ll make up for with energy, teamwork, and a commitment to outworking opponents,” said coach Houk. “This year is about building chemistry, developing resilience, and setting the foundation for the future—a fresh start that promises excitement and growth for our program.”
A large junior class will lead the way for the Cardinals. That group includes Jaxon Houk, Nate Bolin, Liam Doherty, Jackson Thurman, Haiden King, and Braxton Dean. Four sophomores are looking to make their presence felt. Look for Jace Buntin, Quincy Ginn, Carsen Woods, and Reeve Rosencutter to play roles on the team this season.
A talented group of freshmen are poised to gain a lot of experience this season. That group includes Luke Boren, Jett Roach, Bosten Sherman, and Jensen Underwood.
Coach Houk is entering his 14th season with the Verdigris Cardinals.
