The fans have spoken and after weeks of online polls, you the fans have selected your Fan’s Choice Team for the 2026 high school football season.
OFFENSE
QB – Jensen Underwood – Verdigris
A very talented young quarterback with the potential to play in college. Threw for 1,900 yds and 12 TDs as a freshman. Very accurate and a strong arm to push the ball down the field. “We will look to utilize his athleticism this season.” – coach Justin Morsey.
RB – Peyton Stelling – Verdigris
Payton is a dominant force on offense with over 1,700 all-purpose yards and 11 total TDs. He has the size to break tackles and gain tough yards combined with excellent breakaway speed. He catches the ball well out of the backfield. On defense he is great in coverage and a physical tackler.
WR/TE – Bret Schauffler – Verdigris
Verdigris continues their run on the Fan’s Choice Team as Bret Schauffler checks in at the wide receiver spot. Last season he accounted for 49 receptions for 613 yards and two touchdowns.
OL – Dawson Shanholtzer – Verdigris
Started every game for the last two years, Dawson Shanholtzer is everything you want in an offensive lineman and teammate. At 6-foot-2, 265-pounds.
DEFENSE
DL – Dawson Shanholtzer – Verdigris
The big man grabbed all the votes for the defensive line as well, showing how much the Cardinal nation believes in this young man. His power off the line is a big reason Shanholtzer garners so much attention in the trenches.
LB – Charter Zeimet – Verdigris
The Verdigris train keeps chugging along with Charter Zeimet at linebacker. Last season the gritty player made 95 tackles and was a huge part of the overall success of the team. His play is a keystone to the Cardinal’s defense.
DB – Bryson Nichols – Sequoyah Claremore
The Eagles have a playmaker in Bryson Nichols who patrols the secondary. His ability to close on the ball and help support stopping the run makes him a true asset in the defensive secondary.
