VYPE: What goals do you have for this year?
Grace: My goals this year are to better the ball for my teammates and to compete for all the balls I can and to be as positive as possible.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Grace: Volleyball has taught me how to get focused and stay focused, and to work hard to be prepared.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Grace: My favorite teachers are from 8th grade, my history teacher, Coach Knoke, and my track coach, Coach McKinnon. They taught me how to be strong and they always gave me some great life advice.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Grace: My mom (Coach Baughman), Coach Jackson, and Coach Harp are the people who inspire me. My mom has always been there giving me great mental advice to get locked in playing my sports. Coach Jackson is always there giving me great advice and confidence to do my job and is the reason that I’m at Claremore. Coach Harp was tough on me during club volleyball and I can’t thank him enough because he prepared me for varsity.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Grace: All of my teammates leave impressions on me and I love them all and I wouldn’t be here without them. I can’t even explain how lucky I am to have each and everyone of them and look up to all of them.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Grace: I love being on a team because when you have a bad day, your team is there to lift you up. When one of them has a bad day, you’re there to lift them up. For me, a team is family!
VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.
Grace: The best athlete in my family would have to be my older brother, Gabe Baughman, who runs cross country and track. He is one of my biggest influences and gives me good advice and helps me when I need it. I can’t thank him enough and I love him so much.
VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
Grace: A sport I wish I could do is competitive swimming.
VYPE: What profession would you like to work in?
Grace: I would like to go into nursing and become a pediatric nurse.
